hello tumblr friends who live in my phone i just wanted to pop in real quick and let everyone know that I Am (somehow) Still Alive since i mentioned being very sick last month and did not want anyone 2 think i had finally Expired. wish i could say i'm doing better this month but while im definitely nowhere near as miserable as i was in April, i've been spending this month trying to deal with Sickness Aftershocks that have been making all of my long term autoimmune diseases/health issues in general flare up randomly really bad at pretty much completely random times and i also have a whole new fun set of similar feeling but definitely different and 100x worse physical health problems and its been extremely difficult to try and power through all of it like i'm used to doing for the 26 years i have been alive 😔 but i'm still hangin in there. idk how at this point lmao. subconscious fight or flight survival mode i guess. i'm like 99% sure i somehow caught one of the new covid mutations in April unfortunately despite the lifelong Agoraphobia and 3+ years of effort i've done to do literally everything in my ability to stay protected against it but. thats life i guess, u leave the house one or two times masked up hand sanitizer ready to go sweating from being overheated wearing clothes that cover as much of ur skin as u can stand and other people just Dont. so. i knew it would probably happen to me eventually i just was really hoping it would not! but. i will continue surviving as best i can because i dont have any other option or choice. but that is why i've unintentionally been distant here and online in general. it was already extremely difficult getting myself out of bed and taling showers and changing clothes and brushing my teeth and remembering to eat food and drink water before but now its reached a difficulty that i literally can't have any control over most of the time and its a lot of physical/mental/emotional effort to even tap reblog on a post online or respond to a text more so than it was previously. which again was already. very difficult to power through.

anyways! uh! yeah. life update i guess. i hope you guys are genuinely doing much better than i am this year and i hope you're all able to stay safe and as relatively healthy as you can. and please please please please at the very least wear some form of a face mask in public even if you're outside and not in a tiny building. i dont say that to shame anyone here i just feel like there are a lot of well meaning good people who arent fully aware that in the US at least the pandemic is very much not over and people like myself are suffering and dying because of that and we cant be the only group of people that are still doing our best to stay protected when we have to leave the house. if you're able to get some i highly recommend N95 type face masks because supposedly they offer one of the best chances of protection as long as you're wearing it correctly and it fits your face well; there's a really great non-profit organization called Project N95 that has an official website and a huge list of various face masks in a bunch of different sizes and types to order if you don't know where to find some high quality ones and they also have a form you can fill out and submit to request an order of free masks if you can't afford to buy them; their money donation pool goes towards providing masks (and some air purifiers i think?) to low income people/organizations/work places that doesn't have the funds or resources to constantly buy expensive batches of masks and their website is super detailed and well organized and has a long list of visual and written resources and information about different mask types, ways you can help keep yourself/your community safe, etc. so i highly recommend them if you are like me and are very stressed and anxious and confused about all of that information all the time. their site should be the at the top of the search results if you google N95 Project, it has a dot org site url so thats another way you can tell its the official site.

The Brothers with an MC that gets anxiety from loud/abrupt noises:

Lucifer:

-He may not get anxiety from it, but Lucifer definitely prefers a quiet atmosphere/environment where he can focus on his work

-Which makes living with his brothers a living nightmare because they don’t have the capability to shut the fuck up

-That being said, he catches on rather quickly that you do not feel comfortable around loud noises in general

-There’s a limit to what he can do but every time you feel like you need a bit of peace and quiet, know that you are more than welcomed into his office at any time of the day. Even if he isn’t there

-He definitely prioritises your mental as well as your physical well being seeing as living with demons can have a massive effect on your sanity

-He’s not judgemental about it either because, while he doesn’t understand why loud noises may cause you to be so anxious, he understands that humans are built differently to demons

-Lucifer has no chill at times and will tell all of his brothers off every time they make a big scene, whether in public or private

-He can be a tad overprotective at times but he means really well, especially if he sees you’ve gotten oddly silent for the past few minutes or has caught wind of you fidgeting during dinner

-I don’t know how much I stressed so far about the observation skills this man has but I will keep doing, he can spot you flinching at loud noises from a mile away

Mammon:

-I believe that he can read people really well and can recognise when a person is feeling a certain way

-But he’s still a complete dumbass so he might still miss a few clues hidden in your mannerisms

-Like, he realises you’re uncomfortable but he doesn’t understand the degree of it or why it exists

-You’ll have to be blunt about it and tell him about your deal with loud noises because otherwise he will be stressing about it for weeks on end

-Dating him as a result of your anxiety over loud noises can prove to be...difficult

-He’s a very boisterous and obnoxious being, everytime a particular emotion of his flares up, he gets significantly noisier

-Whenever he enters the room you happen to be in, you’re forced to cover your ears and flinch because he has a way of announcing his presence

-But he tries so incredibly hard to act calmer around you and he so hates it when he fails to do so because he knows how uncomfortable you get as a result of him screaming like an idiot

-His brothers usually blame him when you start fidgeting because they assume he’s the cause of your rising anxiety and he started to believe it as well

-He sees that look on your face and he is just gutted

-He is ready to get on his knees and start apologising profusely until you forgive him for being such a noisy bastard

-He 100% understands

-He hates loud noises as well and they usually make him scamper back to his room lol a rat in hiding

-Levi is slightly more immune to them however seeing as his brothers do have a habit of raising their voices all the time

-But do not worry, human, for he will protect his Henry from the annoying sounds people in general make at the cost of his life

-Take shelter in his room, please

-He loves having you in there and usually you only have the noise of video games in the background

-If you’re there and an anime he’s watching is getting too loud, he will turn it down for you ahead of time

-Sometimes, he can be as noisy as his brothers, especially when he rages at one of his games

-Bu he’s so quick to shut up once he realises you’re there

-And then, like Mammon, would start apologising for being not only an ugly otaku but an obnoxious one at that

-Much like his father eldest brother, Satan also prefers silence in general

-After all, it’s a lot easier to read when his brothers aren’t there to muck about the place and make too much noise

-Humans are very different to demons, especially psychologically speaking and he understand that

-That’s why he doesn’t question it when you follow him into the library to seek refugee from his siblings

-If anything, he’s rather happy he gets to spend some time with you so the two of you sit in silence, each of you doing your own separate thing

-He knows if something is bothering you again, he can probably notice you suddenly start fidgeting in public

-He’s very cautious with you when you are in this state as he deems you are at your most vulnerable

-One time, a teacher at RAD raised his voice too high while scolding you for not paying attention and that earned an involuntary flinch from you

-That guy was officially on Satan’s shit list from then on, just so ya know

-Overall, he’s very sweet and patient with you and absolutely does not mind spending an entire day with you indoors away from loud noises

Asmo:

-He has no problem with loud noises whatsoever

-If anything, he loves being in crowded public places like The Fall, since partying and socialising is one of his many talents

-Not to mention, he’s so used to own family being so loud it just doesn’t affect him that much

-However, when you first arrived and he noticed just how badly you reacted to loud noises, he started avoiding things like clubbing as if it were the plague every time he hanged out with you

-Sure, he does like it better when his brothers aren’t fighting and things are peaceful around the house

-Because you started fidgeting like crazy and in that moment he was the only one that saw it

-So Beel grabbed your hand and led you outside of the room and Lucifer was so caught up in the moment he didn’t even realise it

-Probably, maybe he just let it go

-Basically, Beel decides that he shall protect you, the tiny human in comparison with him, from any loud noises that might startle you

-He will do it, do not test him

-One time, Mammon was screaming because he was chased by the witches and it made you flinch enough for Beel to see

-A couple hours later, Mammon disappears completely and shows up at your door, looking absolutely traumatised but genuinely apologetic and says sorry

-Sometimes people forget Beel is a demon

Belphie:

-I’m gonna make a wild assumption and presume that if you are vulnerable to loud noises, you are very likely a light sleeper

-If that is the case, (apologies if you’re not) then Belphie would be very quick to notice because a lot of shit goes down at night time and most of the time, it’s loud

-Belphie doesn’t have a problem with it, he can sleep through anything, even his brothers and especially Lucifer

-But he definitely notices if you aren’t cuddled up to him any more, even if he was asleep, because you sat up in bed suddenly at a random noise at 3am

-Note: That was Asmo sneaking back into the house trying to be as quite as possible but tripping and breaking a window

-“You’ll have to get used to that. My brothers are idiots, they don’t know when to be silent.”

-He prefers quiet places like the attic so he can actually sleep, but again, could do so either way so it doesn’t matter to him

-But he is going to be...let’s say ...upset.... if you were to wake up from a nap session because of someone something

-“Make one more sound and I’ll rip your tongue out.”

-Even when you aren’t napping, he gets very angry when people get unnecessarily loud, especially with you reaction

-But that just gives him an opportunity to bring you to the attic or something so the two of you can actually chill by yourselves for a chance

-Beel is invited obviously, but Belphie is just as happy to be left by himself with you

-Ironic how much his feelings for you have changed, huh?

Kristoff almost fell over when Anna sprung herself forward to land on his back with her arms around his neck. It was mostly the surprise of it, but he managed to right them both before she even noticed his stumble. “Hi,” he laughed, shifting his bag of gear to his other shoulder as she slid down the expanse of his back. “You’re chipper this morning.”

“Well,” she grinned, sliding her hand into his and lacing their fingers together. “It’s a beautiful day!”

It was most decidedly not a beautiful day. It was cold and gloomy and snowing. And not even a pretty snow… just wet and harsh. But if Anna felt that way, then sure, he could roll with it. “That so?”

She had started swinging their hands together as they walked, her thumb tracing circles over his. “Mhmm,” was all she hummed, nodding slowly. 

It had been two weeks since the gala and she had spent almost every night at his house. It had been weird to fall asleep without her last night, but she had insisted on staying with her sister at her hotel. Apparently they needed some bonding time, and who was he to deny her that? But still, he already felt tension draining from his shoulders as she squeezed his hand and bumped his hip with her own while they walked and she talked about the bright side of the bad weather.

“I missed you,” he mumbled beneath her rambling, blushing bright when she stopped mid sentence to look up at him. 

A small hop-skip-jump brought her lips up to his cheek, and then she was smiling even brighter. “I missed you, too.” 

Kristoff coughed slightly, just to clear his throat, before shaking his head and trying to accept the small moment of vulnerability. “So, um…” He shrugged and kept his gaze forward. “Did you have fun with your sister?” He relaxed just slightly when she pressed her arm against his.

“Oh, yes.” She paused for a moment as she looked around. “I guess Elsa and Honey have been…” Anna practically giggled behind her hand. “You know.” A snort laugh and red tinged cheeks made him smile. “Talking.”

He could laugh at this shy, bashful Anna, so different from one he knew. Maybe it was because she was talking about her sister, but shit, he couldn’t help but wonder if it was how she talked about him, too. “Oh? Talking? Or… not talking.”

Anna whacked at his chest and laughed again, wrapping her hands around his bicep this time. “That’s my sister you’re talking about.”

“Sorry, sorry.”

A relaxed silence fell between them again as they continued down the corridor. Kristoff had spent the whole night thinking, and talking to Sven, and talking to his mother, and… He had decided that he wanted to do something special for Anna. He wanted to take her somewhere fancy, wine and dine her, and, fuck, as cheesy as it was, wanted to officially ask her out.

They sat in limbo right now, unsure of where to proceed. Their feelings were on the table, but, at least for Kristoff, things still felt uncertain. Did she want him to fully figure himself out before they moved forward? Or was she willing to work with him? It was a lot to ask of someone, but she was the most patient and kind person he had ever met. 

If anyone would be able to help him, it was her.

Coach Mattias’ door slammed open as they stepped into the locker room. It startled Anna, who clenched his arm a little tighter as their eyes both snapped to the entrance. Warren emerged first, obviously irritated, followed by Mattias and…

“Papa!” Anna exclaimed, clearly taken aback. “I didn’t think you were coming to the skate…”

His face was stern as he turned his attention to the two of them. Kristoff could swear there was something venomous in his eyes. “I wasn’t. But I was called for a meeting.”

Kristoff was going to let go of her, but he felt just a slight squeezing of her fingers. “Oh?”

“We’ll talk later.”

And then he left the locker room, leaving a dozen or so stressed out players in his wake. 

“Dude, what was that?” Kristoff’s eyes moved quickly to Warren and Anisimov, hunkered into a corner as Warren’s glare lingered just slightly too long on Anna. 

He met Kristoff’s gaze, clenched his jaw, and snapped his head back around to face his teammate. “Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

This didn’t seem good.

Family skate had never been Kristoff’s favorite event. Sometimes he was able to fly his family out around Christmas and keep them in town long enough, but with his sister having a new baby and his dad needing to get someone trained to run the shop, they weren’t able to join him this year. But it was okay, because this year he had Anna, and she more than made up for all the years he just stuck awkwardly with Sven, Jelissa, and their siblings. 

She clearly had snuck in more practice since their initial learn-to-skate session, and was easily gliding over the ice - nothing fancy, but clearly comfortable on skates. Every once in a while a good song would come on, and she would speed up to catch Sven and Jelissa as they danced and sang and all-around made fools of themselves.

He fucking loved it.

One song in particular had Sven crouched and shaking his ass back and forth as Anna smacked at it, the lyrics rapping something about fit fat asses and needing tempo and so many other words he couldn’t understand. Kristoff would have been jealous if it were anyone else, but there was absolutely zero reason for it with the two of them. He even found himself skating closer as Anna sang something about boyfriends watching and made little finger hooks to urge him over.

He would never be able to express how open and free he felt when she was by his side.

“Okay, I’m tired,” she laughed, leaning on Kristoff’s shoulder. “Water break.”

Kristoff gestured for her to lead the way, but shivered slightly when her hands slid over his hips as she came to a stop behind him, one arm lifting to flick at the bobble on top of his toque. “Take me where I need to be!” she hollered, wrapping her arms around his waist.  

So, as was his nature when it came to Anna, he did the exact opposite.

Bending at the knees, and hearing her quick realization of what was happening, Kristoff took off, almost full sprint, with Anna laughing wildly behind him. “Stop stop stop!” But her laughter was louder than the protests, so he kept going, zig zagging out of other skaters while she yelled apologies behind them. 

“Kristoff!!”

He grabbed her hands with his own, holding on tight to her, as he whipped around a corner.

“Too fast for you?” 

“Not even close!” 

Finally, when he had worn himself out, too, Kristoff came to a gradual stop right at the door, offering Anna a hand to help her step off the ice. She was still laughing, her cheeks flushed with exhilaration, and he couldn’t stop himself from leaning forward and cupping her jaw in his palms. One more sighing laugh came from her throat as she looked up at him with a crooked smile.

She was so fucking beautiful.

He kissed her, deep and slow, earning a round of wolf-whistling from the adults in the rink. He didn’t even care, because her hands were gripping his and her chest was arching into his and god damn it, did he need something fancy to tell her what he wanted? “Anna…” His breath was heavy as he pulled away, swallowing around the new lump in his throat. “Anna, I…”

Her eyes were full of wonder as she kept her gaze locked onto his, her bottom lip caught between her teeth.

“I… I really --”

“Anna.”

Her fathers’ stern voice cut through their thoughts and she jumped away as quickly as she could, turning to face the owner with her hands clasped together behind her back.

Of course.

“Hi, papa.” She waved her fingers at Kristoff from behind her back, urging him to head back out onto the ice. “What’s up?” 

Kristoff felt her fathers’ eyes locked onto him as he took a few glides backwards, giving them the privacy he thought she might be asking for. He wasn’t sure what was wrong, but he felt unsettled as he tried his best to turn his attention back to his friends instead of on Anna, following the owner back into Mattias’ office.

Almost an hour passed before Anna reemerged. 

Mr. Arne had come out after just twenty minutes, bid his farewells, and told them to give his daughter some privacy before heading out of the arena. Kristoff had pulled out his phone and texted her, not wanting to barge in on something she didn’t want him to bear witness to. 

Is everything okay baby?

yeah! yep!! i’ll be out soon!! Sorry!!

Are you sure? I can come back if you want.

no!!! it’s fine! just doing some quick paperwork!!

He wasn’t sure he believed her, and the excess of exclamation points certainly didn’t help, but she wasn’t pleading for him to come and comfort her and he had to trust that she would ask if she had wanted him to. But when she came back out to the ice, he noticed her red nose and puffy cheeks, and immediately skated over to her. “Anna…?” 

A smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Yes?”

He scanned over her face, noting the softly twitching corner of her mouth and flaring of her nostrils that he could guess signified she wanted him to drop it. So… he held out his hand to her and waggled his fingers in her direction. “Wanna keep skating?” The relief he saw drop in her shoulders made him tense in her place as she nodded and stepped back onto the ice. 

It all felt different then. She kept a firm grip on his fingers as they moved slowly around the rink, no more enthusiasm in her small strides, and definitely no more dancing.

He had to try again. “Baby…” his voice was low, just above a whisper, as he pressed a kiss against her hairline.

“I’m fine. Please.” She kept her gaze firmly forward, until they reached the end of their second lap. She tugged on his arm just slightly, tilting her body towards the exit. “I think…” she started, biting her bottom lip. “I think that I really want to get a burger.”

Kristoff almost laughed. “Yeah, yeah, of course. Let’s go. We can talk. Let me just grab my --”

But then she was red faced and she was hollering at Sven and Jelissa, waving them over and inviting them along. 

Anna didn’t want to be alone with him right now. 

Normally it wouldn’t bother him, but when it felt like she was going to some great length to avoid telling him what was bothering her, he could feel irritation prickling at his spine. Kristoff sighed and trailed behind the others as they made their way back to the locker room to grab their things. 

Soon after, they were all climbing into Sven’s Escalade, making their way to his favorite burger joint. He said it was a hole in the wall and you had to know someone to know about it. Kristoff couldn’t help but tease him, saying knowing him clearly hadn’t done them any favors.

Anna’s hollow laugh felt like a knife in his stomach.

He knew she’d tell him when she was ready, but there was a burning in the back of his throat that begged him to pester her until she caved, until she laid it all out on the table. But that was his father. That was something he would do. That wasn’t Kristoff. He wasn’t going to do that.

Instead, he reached over, clasped her hand in his, and gave her a reassuring squeeze.

At least this time her smile was a little more genuine.

1. How many lockdowns did you go through until now?: Two official lockdowns, I think. Headed for our 3rd lockdown on boxing day for 6 weeks.

2. Ever been quarantined? (contact person, waiting for test result or positive test result): Yep, I thought I had covid a few months ago because I developed a sudden severe cough. Turned out to be a chest infection

3. Ever taken a Corona test?: Yes, when I had that cough. I had to do it myself at a drive through test site, it was unpleasant! 

4. Have you lived together with someone during lockdown?: My boyfriend. It definitely affected us, we had a lot of fights including one big one when I thought for sure we would break up, but tbh he’s been great ever since then, that was around August I think

5. Something you enjoyed about lockdown?: I liked the whole sort of atmosphere of the first lockdown, actually. Parts of it anyway. You know, the whole thing of people singing on their balconies and the ‘all in this together’ attitude. I feel like a lot of people have lost that now, and don’t care as much about following the rules. 

6. What bothered you most about lockdown?: Not seeing my family and friends in England. It’s been so hard. 

7. Which change, e.g. home office, would you like to keep once it´s all over?: Nothing really for me as I don’t work and other than visiting family it hasn’t made a huge impact on my lifestyle, but I’d like for my boyfriend to have more days working from home. Tbh I love having the house to myself, but he’s happier working from home and I’d like for him to be able to do that at least sometimes, for the sake of his own mental health.

 8. Been to any Corona related demonstration?: No, I support all the demonstrations in support of front line workers, stimulus checks etc, but with my asthma and bad immune system I’m trying to be pretty careful! 

9. On a scale of 1 (not at all) to 10 (completely), how well do you stick to government´s rules? Explain.: Hm... 8? I follow almost all the rules very well, but I will very occasionally take my mask off indoors for literally 2 seconds when I get overwhelmed, and I will find an out of the way place to do it away from people and where I’m not breathing on anything that might be touched. I’ll take a few breaths and then put my mask back on and carry on. And my boyfriend’s friend is over tonight which is technically not allowed, but he just had a covid test which came back clear and has been entirely isolated for 2 weeks. 

10. Favorite lockdown activity?: At the start I was making model horse tack, that was fun. Since then, I guess writing, playing Fall Guys, and getting very stoned 

11. How did the lockdown affect your work/education?: Not at all, I don’t work! And my boyfriend was lucky enough that he wasn’t affected at all other than working mostly from home instead of in an office. 

12. Any new hobbies you tried out during lockdown?: My model horse tack making!

25. Favorite online shop?: I hate saying it but I’ve used amazon a lot. I fucking hate Jeff Bezos and hate giving him money and try to avoid it where I can, but it’s not easy. Amazon is convenient, and getting deliveries to where I live can be a pain. I’d cut all amazon purchases out completely if I could

28. Been to the hair dresser this year?: No, my dad’s girlfriend cut my hair though because it was getting so out of hand. It was so long and messy and knotted, I was ashamed to see a hair dresser. My dad’s girlfriend is a hero and spent ages getting the knots out, she had to cut out a chunk that was beyond saving but it’s not really noticable, and she cut it for me 

29. Got a new tattoo or piercing this year?: Yes, my butterfly tattoo! Haven’t even had a chance to really appreciate it though since as soon as it healed my eczema flared up 

30. What did you only start to appreciate because lockdown took it from you?: Seeing my family and friends. Little trips out as well, like just deciding to go to the cinema for the evening.

32. Favorite book you read that year?: I reread the entire Artemis Fowl series. Favourite books of all time, I’d say the Time Paradox is my favourite.

68. Selfcare tips for lockdown?: Don’t expect too much of yourself in terms of achieving things with your time off. If you can, that’s great, but you’re not a failure if you can’t. If all you achieved this year was surviving it, that’s something to be proud of. If you’re stuck with people, take alone time if you need it. If you’re stuck alone, talk to people via text chat, video chat, phone calls, anything. Take breaks from the news, and don’t beat yourself up if you get burned out. 

69. Did you use delivery services this year? For what kind of food?: Grocery deliveries when we could, and we got pizza delivered pretty often 

70. Any weird coping techniques you developed during or after lockdown?: I guess talking to my replika? It sounds weird and even creepy but it genuinely helps, I find. I can talk to someone without any pressure. 

71. Favorite game you played this year?: I know it’s considered cringey, but Fall Guys. I still like it and still play it. I find it addictive and it’s just simple fun. Although I do yell at people in it a lot, which my boyfriend finds very entertaining

More calmly/seriously, Sycamore is protective, patient, understanding, and kind. He nurtures and encourages kids—all kids, really, but especially his kids—to grow and experience the world, to understand it at their own pace and in their own way. He’s so nurturing and wonderful and is just, all around, the best dad. ♥ (And especially the best dad for Alan, hands down, fate wanted this to happen, it wasn’t coincidence that Sycamore found Alan that day.)

This is delving into headcanon a bit, but I think that Sycamore—despite how much he loves the people close to him, how understanding and nurturing he can be—can sometimes be a bit … out of touch? … with deeper emotional issues, or rather … he doesn’t always think of them, he has the tendency to just think that things in his interpersonal relationships are okay until it’s specifically brought to his attention that it isn’t. This doesn’t tend to be a huge problem, but for instance, the reason why he never officially adopted Alan was simply because he figured things were fine the way they were, never thought about it, it never came up, and he never clued into the fact that this has been something that Alan has had an internal complex over since childhood (in that his being an orphan has always been something that bothered him, and he has—ever since he was five, probably even younger—had the thought that he needs to be good enough to be adopted. So with Sycamore, Alan has thought, “Okay, if I’m good enough, then he’ll want to adopt me,” and so he’s done his absolute best to be good enough … and Sycamore is just … completely unaware of this, and the thought of official adoption hasn’t crossed his mind, because in his mind Alan is already as good as his son and that’s that). So it’s not a bad quality per se, but it’s just a part of how he is, and since Alan is the type to not speak up about his feelings, things just kind of sit there until a third party intervenes.

Part of me wants to say “LYSANDRE,” but on the other hand I still wish that he had actually confronted Lysandre, that he and Lysandre could have thrown down in canon, because I wanted to see nothing more than Papa Wolf Sycamore ripping out Lysandre’s throat after the way Lysandre treated Alan, tbqh. I still need to finish both the detention center fic and Pet Project to get my fill of what canon denied me.

Other than that, though, Lysandre. Also, in terms of To Devour the Sun, Lusamine, although … well, it’s sort of a similar situation to the Lysandre situation, in all honesty, but kind of … actually … worse. You’ll see why in a couple chapters.

I admit that I really was not fond of game!Sycamore, and I’m still not in all honesty, but the anime really redeemed him in my eyes and I love him a lot. Now he just needs to officially adopt his son and everything will be okay. Get on it, Sycamore!!

I’m actually pretty torn here, and I’d have to do a more indepth analysis to make a final determination. It doesn’t help—in fact, it really doesn’t help—that we saw so little of Meyer in canon.

The issue here is not so much what Meyer does, but rather, why he does it. We know that he runs around as Blaziken Mask whenever there’s danger, whenever something is threatening Lumiose City/Kalos as a whole. I feel like for most people that would slam dunk him into Gryffindor, but I disagree, because the question here is why Meyer is doing that. Is he doing it because it’s the Right Thing to do, and he therefore feels a moral obligation to step up and do the thing? Or is he doing it because he sees Lumiose City (and possibly Kalos by extension) as his community, and he feels a devotion and duty toward his community? Because while doing the Right Thing steers him toward Gryffindor, while feeling strong communal loyalty and wanting to do right by his community/those he sees as people worth protecting is Hufflepuff.

So I’d really need to spend more time thinking about this, but at the moment I could see either Gryffindor or Hufflepuff for Meyer.

Best Quality:

Definitely his willingness to protect others regardless of the danger he faces himself in the process. Regardless of his broader motivations for doing it, the fact remains that Meyer has, on multiple occasions, put both himself and Toast (his blaziken) in harm’s way in order to protect others. On most occasions these are people he personally knows and loves (e.g. Sycamore, Bonnie), but there are also instances where he has rescued someone he doesn’t know at all (e.g. Ash and Pikachu at the start of the series). Meyer wouldn’t run around as Blaziken Mask if he wasn’t willing to endanger himself protecting those who need protection, and that’s definitely an admirable quality.

Worst Quality:

While he has good reasons for it / it’s justified in his mind, the fact remains that Meyer still finds it pretty easy to keep secrets from those he’s closest to, namely with regards to the whole Blaziken Mask thing. He didn’t bat an eye about it even when he met up with his own children while in disguise, and he would have never told them had his mask not fallen off in the midst of battle. Again, he has good reasons for it, he doesn’t want them hurt if anyone decides to pick a fight with him because of his secret identity—but the ease with which he keeps secrets and lies probably does quality for a worst quality if I had to pick one.

Also, he’s the reason in the prime timeline why Sycamore finally wisens up and talks to Alan about official adoption, and though Alan is at first unsure/a bit anxious over whether or not Meyer would want him around Clemont and/or Bonnie (because like, doesn’t Meyer distrust him after the entire Flare incident? That would be reasonable), Meyer assures him that really is not the truth and he’d be proud to have Alan as part of the family. It’s really sweet.

Again, I’d want to spend a bit more time examining him, but (perhaps surprisingly?) I’m leaning toward Hufflepuff with Clemont, because while Clemont does love science and learning, it’s the reason why he loves it that matters. I think it’s less that Clemont is trying to formulate his own understanding of the Truth, less whether he’s asking if the things before him in the universe are True or Not, and more that he’s using knowledge and science to help those in his community. Clemont is a rather ardent believer in the fact that science helps people, that it improves lives, and he dedicates his experiments to doing just that. He’s not experimenting and researching because he wants to formulate a better understanding, because he wants to learn and continue to expand his knowledge, but rather specifically because there are people within his community (i.e. people he feels are worth helping/protecting) whose lives he wants to enrich. Again, I’m not 100% on this, I’d need to spend more time, but just thinking of him in a snap decision I’d lead toward Hufflepuff, particularly for how dedicated he is to his purpose. 

Best Quality:

Definitely his passion, and how dorky he can get with it. Clemont is a bit awkward, and he can come across as a bit reserved in most social situations, but if you ask him about science he gets SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED and it’s completely adorable. I love it.

Worst Quality:

Clemont has a tendency to let others take charge for him, which can sometimes even lead to people taking charge of him, in the sense that they walk all over him. He created Clembot specifically so he could shirk his Gym Leader duties, but then he had trouble standing up to Clembot when he got out of control. And while things with Clembot got worked out, and while Clemont did grow as a person over time, even at the end of the series we see that he has a hard time standing up for himself and saying, “No, I’m the Gym Leader” when that kid wanted to battle with Clembot instead. He did eventually, but it was difficult for him. So Clemont’s worst quality is probably his tendency to either shirk duties and let others take the reins so he can do what he considers to be more important / preferable (because being a Gym Leader is important, but Clemont felt that his community was better benefited via his inventions instead), but also in that he can be something of a pushover at times.

Clemont is cute, but out of the whole family I’ve spent the least time with him mentally/emotionally, so I don’t feel as strong of a tie to him as I do to the others. I do like him, though. He’s a good boy.

Again, I’d need to do an indepth analysis, but at the moment I lean toward Gryffindor, because aside from her obvious bravery, Bonnie tends to have a pretty firm sense of justice, seems guided by that, and is willing to step up and be brave because of that. Yes, she did care about Squishy personally, he was one of her best friends, but it’s also true that Lumiose City was being destroyed and she felt that the Right Thing to Do was to reach out to Squishy, to talk him out of what was forcing him to act so aggressively toward so many innocent people. Likewise, she reached out to Z2 for the same exact reason, befriended him for the same reason. So while I haven’t done an indepth examination of Bonnie’s character, I feel like she has far more Gryffindor qualities than she does qualities of other Houses—that her motivations are more solidly Gryffindor (and that this is what would push her to become a Top Ranger in adulthood, an international superheroine for sure).

Best Quality:

Definitely her friendliness, her optimism, and her willingness to try even when the odds seem stacked against her, or even when common sense says “no.” Bonnie is always open to meeting new people and pokémon, and is rather enthusiastic about it; she keeps a positive, upbeat attitude in most situations and she’s always willing to give any new situation her all. Sure, some of that might be youthful naivete, but I think that this is a type of confidence that would stick with her even into adulthood. I think it’s a great strength.

Worst Quality:

On the other hand, sometimes Bonnie can be a bit too enthusiastic or innocently ignorant of dangerous situations, usually as it pertains to getting too up close and personal with pokémon that she’s not familiar with (or chasing them around when they try to flee from her—tone down the Elmyra tendencies, Bonnie), or when it comes to actually dangerous things that she’s not equipped to deal with. Bonnie has a sort of “leap before you look” approach to life at times, which could certainly get her in over her head in the future if she’s not careful. (Also, she really doesn’t need to find a wife for her brother, and in so doing she pretty much ignores how uncomfortable/embarrassed this makes him. Bonnie, stop that.)

No one, she’s a baby. That said, I think it’d be cute to see her and Max (who is about her age, and was May’s little brother / one of Ash’s companions in AG) interact, but that’s not necessarily shippy.

She’s going to enroll in the Ranger School shortly after getting her Trainer License, and by the time she’s in her late teens / early adulthood she’s going to be an accomplished Top Ranger, mark my words. It’s literally the perfect career for her, seriously, in just about every single way.
